Membership News

Play Resource was delighted to receive a Highly Commended Award in the Best Social Economy in Northern Ireland category, amidst tough competition at the recent Social Economy Awards. The award was for recognition of our hard work in developing the organisation and its services that support the community. The prestigious event was organised by the Social Economy Network.

Since launching the free e-bulletin service in 2007 it has grown in popularity. Exactly 4 years later the number of subscribers to the e-bulletin reached 2,011 in February 2011!! Other ways to keep up to date with Play Resource nowadays is of course follow us on Twitter.

In the current climate of tough times and cuts we are all being forced to evaluate every penny spent! We wanted to brighten your day by reassuring you that investing in a Play Resource membership is money well spent. It offers value for moneyFor just £50* a year you are giving your group access to all these services:
• unlimited free Scrapstore materials like paper, card, bottles, tubs, tubes, fabric
• discounted Art & Play Shop products
• wealth of free Ideas & Inspiration resources
• high quality Creative Paths Art Programme designed to enhance children’s learning and development, and young people’s confidence and self-esteem.

We did a few quick sums… A price comparison showed that to buy similar items available for free from the Scrapstore; like a ream of A1 paper, A1 card, and A2 silver card and several metres of fabric, would cost over £45! At Play Resource you can collect these items for free over and over again through out the year. And that is without counting other exciting items that money could not buy you like bottles, tubs, tubes, bottle tops. Imagine if you had to start collecting all these up yourself in large quantities - you would never be done!!

Plus not forgetting the value of what money just could not buy:
• access to helpful and experienced staff there to give advice and support
bursaries for arts projects and training
free advertising of events, training and services to over 2000 groups across NI
• reduced Room Hire rates.

With the added feel good factor of investing in Play Resource membership being that you are:
• reinvesting in your local community
• supporting an important recycling project
• putting environmental issues at the heart of how you spend your money.

So you see what a good investment Play Resource membership is. Your £50 is very wisely spent!
