Exciting news! We have been busy forging a new partnership with the NI team for the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) over the last month. NISP is an innovative business opportunity programme that delivers bottom line benefits for members whilst generating positive outcomes for the environment and society. Put simply, their vision is to change the way business thinks. Operating at the forefront of Industrial Symbiosis
thinking and practice, the programme helps companies take a fresh look at their resources.
By creating networks between businesses NISP facilitates the flow of resources, enabling what is one firms waste to become another firm’s raw material. From our point of view it is putting us in contact with new firms who are providing us with excellent scrap materials – so watch this space for any new arrivals!! We certainly think it is a recycling and re-use chain between businesses that is worth being part of.
Back to top^Creative Paths Arts Programme

An additional feature of the new website is that the entire Craft Sheet Library is available online with the ability to search for seasonal and general themes, including arts & craft projects, scrap ideas, various ways to explore art processes & techniques such as clay or modelling. Each one gives a full set of step-by-step instructions to follow but can also be used as a start point from which to develop projects.

This month sees the arrival of two new contrasting exhibitions in the Ideas Gallery upstairs at Play Resource. No doubt both will provide a wealth of Ideas & Inspiration for arts projects and activities. Journey back through time with our Ancient Civilizations inspired display, created by staff on a recent materials training day and you will see Mayan, Egyptian, Celtic, Roman, Native American and Aboriginal influences!!
Or simply pause to take in the beautiful Going Slow photography exhibition by artist Jim Russell. It explores the beauty and diversity of the natural world around us – if only we took the time to slow down and see it! This series of photographs are the direct result of a year when Jim allowed himself the time to slow down and see the small things to be found in hedgerows, canal banks or waste ground around his hometown of Newry. The exhibition encourages everyone to do the same and explore the mini jungles on our own doorsteps that provide a wealth of inspiration for arts projects!
Jim Russell is a regular contributor to Creative Paths projects and a highly experienced community artist with a collaborative approach who incorporates modelling, digital photography, music and storytelling to his work. Prints from the exhibition are available for only £20. Contact Jim on 028 3026 5990 or 07521 306 372.
